5.8.1. Removal, troubleshooting and installation of the camshaft

The camshaft is installed in the separate case fixed on a head of the block of cylinders by the same bolts as a head on the block. Therefore for replacement of the camshaft it is required to turn out these bolts and to remove the camshaft case from a block head.
It will be required to you: the same tools, as for removal of a belt of the drive of the gas-distributing mechanism (see. "Replacement and adjustment of a tension of a belt of the drive of the gas-distributing mechanism and replacement of its tension roller"), a back cover of the drive of the gas-distributing mechanism (see. "Removal and installation of the oil pump"), covers of a head of the block of cylinders (see. "Replacement of laying of a cover of a head of the block of cylinders"), and also a face head "on 13", keys "on 12", "on 14", "on 19", a dynamometer key.
1. Install the piston of the first cylinder in the provision of VMT of a step of compression (see. "Installation of the piston of the first cylinder in the provision of VMT of a step of compression").
2. Remove the ignition coil (see. "Removal and installation of the coil of ignition").
3. Turn out three bolts of fastening of an arm of the coil of ignition to the camshaft case …
4. … also remove an arm.

    
NOTE
Under an arm of fastening of the coil of ignition the rubber sealing ring is established. Replace strongly pressed out, hardened or torn ring.

5. Weaken a collar of fastening of the bringing hose of system of ventilation of a case of the engine …
6. … also disconnect a hose from a camshaft case branch pipe.
7. Uncover a head of the block of cylinders (see. "Replacement of laying of a cover of a head of the block of cylinders").
8. Weaken an inhaling of two bolts of fastening of a persistent flange of the camshaft.
9. Weaken a tension and take off a belt of the drive of the gas-distributing mechanism from the cogged pulley of the camshaft (see. "Replacement and adjustment of a tension of a belt of the drive of the gas-distributing mechanism and replacement of its tension roller").
10. Remove the cogged pulley of the camshaft (see. "Replacement of an epiploon of the camshaft").
11. Remove a back cover of the drive of the gas-distributing mechanism (see. "Removal and installation of the oil pump").

12. Turn out ten bolts of fastening of a head of the block of cylinders to the block in the sequence, return shown in fig. 5.4, in three steps: turn out bolts half way, turn out bolts for a half-turn, finally turn out bolts.

    
PREVENTION
Bolts of fastening of a head of the block of cylinders can be turned off only on the cold engine.

13. Take bolts and remove the camshaft case.
14. Turn out finally two bolts of fastening of a persistent flange of the camshaft, shift the camshaft back and remove a flange.
15. Take out the camshaft from the case, shifting it back.

    
PREVENTION
At extraction of the camshaft from the case be careful: do not damage sharp edges of cams of a surface of support under camshaft necks.

16. Examine the camshaft. On a shponochny flute and a carving on a sock of a shaft there should not be damages and wear, and in a pro-point under a persistent flange — traces of excessive wear and забоин. The surfaces of basic necks and cams have to be well polished, without damages. If there are traces of jammings, an overheat, deep risks or steps from wear, replace a shaft.

    
PREVENTION
Grinding of cams of the camshaft for elimination of step wear is forbidden as at change of the sizes of a profile of cams gas distribution phases will be broken.

17. Measure diameters of basic necks of camshafts and their bearings, calculate the gaps in bearings of shaft determined by a difference between diameters of their bearings in a head of cylinders and diameters of necks (tab. 5.1). At the wear exceeding admissible replace the camshaft as regrinding of necks on the repair size is not provided.

18. Install the camshaft by extreme necks on two prisms placed on a testing plate and measure by the indicator a beating of average necks. At a beating more than 0,02 mm or not coaxialities of necks replace a shaft as its editing is not allowed.

    
PREVENTION
At installation of the new camshaft replace levers of valves new. Before the first launch of the engine and for improvement of conditions extra earnings are recommended to be added to engine oil anti-seize antifrictional additive.

19. Install the camshaft oiled engine in its case and fix by a persistent flange.
20. Install the camshaft case on a head of the block of cylinders and fix the case and a head of the block on the block of cylinders (see. "Replacement of laying of a head of the block of cylinders", page 79).

    
NOTES
Surely replace laying of a head of the block of cylinders new.
Before installation apply sealant on all surface of a privalochny surface of the case of the camshaft to a head of the block of cylinders.

21. Establish a back cover of the drive of the gas-distributing mechanism, the cogged pulley of the camshaft and a belt of the drive of the gas-distributing mechanism (see. "Removal and installation of the oil pump").
22. Adjust a tension of a belt of the drive of the gas-distributing mechanism (see. "Replacement and adjustment of a tension of a belt of the drive of the gas-distributing mechanism and replacement of its tension roller").
23. Establish all earlier removed details as it should be, the return to removal.
24. Adjust a tension of belts of the drive of the generator and pump of the hydraulic booster of steering (see. "Check and adjustment of a tension of a belt of the drive of the generator and pump of the hydraulic booster of steering"), and also the conditioner compressor (see. "Check and adjustment of a tension of a belt of the drive of the compressor of the conditioner").
