On the car the five-step mechanical transmission (fig. 6.3) is installed.
The transmission is executed according to the two-shaft scheme with five synchronized transfers of the forward course and one not synchronized transfer of a backing. The transmission and the main transfer with differential have the general case; besides, the transmission is supplied with an additional intermediate case and a cover. The main shaft is pressed in the block of gear wheels and connected to it vents.
On secondary the leading cylindrical gear wheel of the main transfer, the conducted gear wheels and synchronizers of transfers are established to a shaft of the transmission. Couples of gear wheels of the forward course of the transmission are in continuous gearing. Gear wheels of the I-V transfers in neutral situation freely rotate on secondary to a shaft.
Transfers of the forward course join axial movement of the corresponding couplings of the synchronizers installed on secondary to a shaft. Transfer of a backing joins movement of an intermediate gear wheel of a backing along the axis.
The mechanism of gear shifting is located in the cover established from above on a transmission case.

The main transfer (fig. 6.4) is executed in the form of couple of cylindrical gear wheels which are picked up for noise. The torque is transferred from the conducted gear wheel of the main transfer to differential and further to drives of forward wheels.
